This home was a Major remodel. The entire home was demoed. I knew walking into this property, that it was special. It had a peaceful, and serene feeling as it was nestled amongst many many beautiful trees. I wanted the outcome of this project to be a home that was light-filled, but an old world, and lived in feel. Not like a brand-new sleek house. Because this property was only minutes away from the town, where the hustle and bustle lived, it felt secluded and recluse, so I instantly thought of a farmhouse in the French country hillside. Then it was born, the Modern French Country Farmhouse design. This Modern French Country style incorporates natural imperfections found in wood and stone and rustic, worn finishes. tons of character, and curves galore. I was adamant about opening the ceiling and incorporating a large beam, and if that couldn’t happen then I was passing on this project. I still wanted this property to feel clean, intentional, and warm. When done well, a Modern French Country home should feel both brand new and comfortingly familiar, all at the same time. Counterbalance all the various textures with simple wooden accent pieces throughout. The natural tones of new pieces helped to create a serene, calming color palette that is a staple of the Modern French Country style but adding a few reflective and fancy pieces like chandeliers elevated it to feel a little fresh and fancy. Our family lived in this property for a few years before we decided it was time to move and capitalize on our design project.
